This online e-learning course fulfills the requirement that all PTs and PTAs complete one hour of sexual harassment training for licensure renewal. This course will provide an overview sexual harassment including definition, sub-types, and behaviors that constitute sexual harassment. Participants will learn what steps to take when reporting as well as state (Illinois) and federal laws that provide legal protections after a case is under investigation. Special attention will be given to sexual harassment within Physical Therapy including the APTA position statement, code of ethics, and within case scenarios experienced by everyday clinicians. Dr. Shah received his Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York. After completing his physical therapy education he went on to the University of Maryland to complete his Doctor of Science Degree. Dr. Shah has served as an adjunct clinical professor at Governors State University, Northwestern University and Fox College. He is currently a part-time University Lecturer at Governors State University teaching several courses to entry-level physical therapy students.
Dr. Shah is also the owner/director of GoodLife Physical therapy, an outpatient physical therapy setting primarily seeing patients with orthopedic and vestibular conditions. He also serves as a clinical instructor providing students with real life experience working with patients in the clinic. In 2013, Dr. Shah was awarded the prestigious outstanding clinical supervisor award for his work with students in the clinic. As an adjunct to physical therapy, Dr. Shah received his strength and conditioning certification (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Shah has worked with various level athletes including those currently playing in the NFL, MLB and NHL, USA Olympic Hockey, NCAA, etc.
Dr. Shah is proud to be certified in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (Cert.MDT). Dr. Shah completed his fellowship in orthopedic manual physical therapy from Daemen College in Buffalo New York and he is a board certified clinical specialist in orthopedics through the American Physical Therapy Association Board of Specialties. He is currently in the process of completing the Mckenzie Diploma program.
